Issue 23 - From 14 to 31 May 2010, the Yugoslavian-born performance artist Marina AbramoviÄ mounted a large-scale retrospective of her work at Museum Modern Art, New York. Designed âto transmit presence and make historical performances accessible larger audienceâ, AbramoviÄ: The Artist is Present included re-enactments several signature works performed by younger artists (chosen coached AbramoviÄ) (MoMA). These restagings occurred alongside presentation new piece (the eponymously titled Is Present), featuring herself.
